Cleverand Edinson, from our third group of young people, turned 18 this month, so yesterday we threw them a surprise party after the training.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, especially Angelica's little ones, and it gave the second and third group members chance to mix and get to know each other better.
The Colour of Hope is a British Charity working to reduce poverty, advance education and promote employment amongst disadvantaged young people leaving care homes in Lima, Peru.
Most of these young people have previously been street children and still bear the marks of extreme poverty, drug addiction and abuse. Once they grow up, they’re forced to leave care, find work and start supporting themselves. Yet the troubles they’ve suffered, lack of family support and insufficient funds make this almost impossible. Many end up right back where they started – living on the streets.
The Colour of Hope's youth reintegration programme and microfinance scheme help these underprivileged young people to become part of their community and to find dignified work; they give them a chance for change.
